Vehicle Rental
The goal of the Transportation Services Motor Pool is to make a variety of vehicles available for rent to Notre Dame departments, students, faculty, and staff for the purpose of carrying out University business only.
Please note that the University PROHIBITS the use of 15 PASSENGER VANS for ALL University students, faculty, and staff.

The University of Notre Dame is pleased to offer electric vehicle (EV) rentals as a cost-effective and sustainable option for departmental travel. EV rentals are priced lower than comparable gas-powered vehicles and hybrid vehicles. This provides an immediate savings to departmental budgets while supporting Notre Dame's holistic commitment to sustainability!

Reserving a Vehicle
48-Business Hour Notice for ALL Reservations
Due to the high volume of reservation requests, you are requird to provide a 48-business hour notice for ALL vehicle reservations. Reservations placed with less than a 48-business hour notice are subject to availability.
Reserving a vehicle is as simple as accessing the Transportation Services' Vehicle Reservation System and clicking on the MAKE RESERVATION label under VEHICLE USE. If you need to request a vehicle type that is not listed under Rental Rates, you can note that in the comments section of the reservation request form.
Student Drivers
Undergraduate students drivers must complete the drivers training class before they can pick up and drive a University vehicle. Student classes are held on the following days and times:
Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30am; Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00pm
Due to limited space, appointments to attend the training must be made by calling Transportation Services at 574-631-6467 or email undtrans@nd.edu to schedule your appointment. Those who attend the training but are not registered may be rescheduled to another day and time. Students must bring their U.S. issued drivers license and their Notre Dame student ID. Please allow 30 minutes for the training session.
International Student and Faculty Drivers
The Office of Treasury Services provides guidelines for international student and faculty members who find themselves needing to drive a rental vehicle for University business. If you have any questions or concerns, they can be reached at 574-631-4097.
Rental Rates
As of October 1, 2025, vehicles rates will be as follows:
- Electric Sedan: $40.00 per day
- Sedans: $49.00 - $53.00 per day
- Electric SUV: $60.00 per day
- Standard SUV: $72.00 per day
- Large SUV: $102.00 -$ 130.00 per day
- Mini-Vans: $75.00 per day
- Cargo Van: $83.00 - $110.00 per day
- 12 passenger Van: $160.00 per day
- Premium rates may apply for specific vehicle requests
